I chose this brand as I was told the first three ingredients make up most of the contents. My dogs get pieces of roast beef or chicken as treats along with raw celery, carrots and lettuce. I was also wondering about the cabbage? I would like to know more about it before I feed it to my dogs. What we did (since I REFUSE to cook a meal for the 90 pound dog!) is that we gradually weaned him off. Worked like a charm.</P><P>Another thing that works is to change the flavour of the dog food he's eating - For example, we went from one type of Nutrience dog food to another, and he thought it was the GREATEST thing! You have to gradually introduce it though... just like any other food. </P><P>As well, we changed the kibble size to a smaller size. We were having problems with him eating *enough* kibble. I think he just got bored chewing on the big pieces (gient breed kibble) so we switched him to medium breed sized kibble and that works great since he gets more at a time. He's put on 10 pounds since the summer!</P><P>Don't forget! My dogs are fed a natural diet -- commonly known as BARF (bones and raw food or biologically appropriate raw food). Their dinner consists of ground up chickens (carc***es, necks, everything), many different types of vegetables pulverized in my food processor, some flax seed oil, other vitamins, etc. Some of you may have heard about this type of diet and believe me, I will never switch back to kibble. It's pretty scary when you actually read what is put in kibble. Anyway, for anyone that is interested in learning more about BARF, send me a message or if you're adventurous, go surfing. It's a pretty daunting task at first when you get started but the real reward is watching how my dogs gobble it up. Once he eats something, there is no getting it out! He was sure to wash it down with some water after he ate it. I'm sure it didn't live for very long (lack of oxygen etc.) It was only about 12cm long.</P><P>I just had to shrug my shoulders and laugh. My dog is part lab, I might as well get used to it. And it really agrees with him, everyone comments on how nice and shiny his coat is. We try to put a bit of cabbage in a couple times a week.</P><P>And about being a fussy eater? He's part black lab, so he'll eat everything and anything. Sometimes I will give him something he doesn't like that much (like a piece of broccoli) and he will make a disgusted face while he chews it (you can almost hear him saying "Are you kidding me? You call this food?").
